The Nutcracker Columbia reviews
IBC's Nutcracker a true disappointment
My granddaughter was so excited to see her first Nutcracker; now I don't know if I will ever get her to go back. While the costumes were lovely and some of the dancing was very good, the production lacked emotion, sparkle, and continuity nor did it have a sense of wonder and awe. The dolls just looked like other dancers who just happened to dance more stilted. The nutcracker was only 4 feet tall. There was no "Mother Ginger" in the third act. I have never seen a production that didn't have that character. There were three intermissions which were totally unnecessary. It was like going to a recital where everyone's child got a chance to perform, but the ticket price said it was going to be a professional production.
